BLIT was formed
in 2008, to provide “job specific lighting systems” to architects, engineers,
designers and users.
BDCL
is the abbreviation of BANSIDHAR CHIRANJILAL, a several decades old family
business, diversified in lighting and metal forging.
Our
fixtures travel a long way, from goniophotometer to job sites, a journey that’s
sometimes forgotten in a glowing showroom or a glamorous hotel lobby. We, with
our deep know-how about electric light sources, try to ensure that this journey
is a process that establishes a perfect relationship between the intent and the end
result. The end result is, in some cases, dominated by an engineering viewpoint,
resigned to determine sufficient illuminance levels, for a safe and efficient
working environment and by the scenographic
perspective in others.
PARTNERS
Abhishek & Chandan can
trace their lighting roots back to their father, who, along with his brothers,
had started selling locally manufactured decorative lights and commercial
luminaires manufactured by Bajaj, Crompton Greaves & Philips, since 1969. Lighting
is something that they both were always fascinated by as kids and really fell
in love with.
Abhishek knew
that the white-light emitting street light fixtures were Mercury Vapour based
and orange ones Sodium, when he was just 7!
Chandan
hardly consults product manuals, and can install, commission and program the most
complex lighting systems without much trouble!
The
brothers joined the family business in 1998 and 2000 respectively.
Though
it was purely a commercial activity to begin with, it wasn’t long before they
started interacting with architects, designers and users, carrying out
demonstrations and visiting sites before, during and after completion.
Years
of these activities changed their way of looking at lighting. And, now it’s not
just about fixtures, but about what their fixtures do
for spaces and people.
They
have seen their products performing at
numerous locations, and each experience has improved the understanding of
capabilities and limitations of these devices.
Whether
you are a long-time design professional or developing a property for the
first-time, they would like to hear from you. If you have an idea, a problem or
a question, send it their way. They would, more often than not, have a ready
solution for you. If not, they love challenges!
